Dr. Sunil Peshane is a Material Scientist and Coatings Technologist with 20 years of rich professional experience in research and technology development with keen interest in sustainable materials.

Currently, Dr. Peshane is Chief Technology Officer in Swachh Urja Alliance, India working on “Urban Mining of Li-Ion Battery” for circular and sustainable economy. He is responsible for designing highly efficient and zero waste recycling processes. Recently, his work on recycling of Li-Ion Battery got published in the highly rated journal Sustainable Materials and Technologies, Elsevier Publications (Impact Factor 10.68). He collaborates with Dr. Quinn Quio of Syracuse University, NY, USA for this project. He is a research co-guide at the University of Mumbai guiding five Ph.D. research scholars in diverse areas related to material science, composites, nanotechnology, coatings and polymer technology. At present, Dr. Peshane handles project worth INR 4500000 related to Self-healing polymers with Invisible QR Code Technology for Aerospace application, funded by Air Defense Board under Defense Research & Development Organization, India.

He is also an Academic Director of Brainwave Science Academy responsible for planning and execution of academic calendar. He sponsored and hosted TEDx Badlapur event in 2015. He worked as science communicator and counselor for many TV shows (notably CET Special 2010) hosted by ABP Majha channel. From 2017, he is a peer review referee for Pigment & Resin Technology, Emerald Publishing, UK. Dr. Peshane is an accomplished, versatile and results-driven professional having a proven track record of developing technologies that are practically viable and of use to society. During Covid19 Pandemic, in April 2020, Dr. Peshane developed nanotechnology based antiviral coatings for PPE and N95 masks with 100 % antiviral efficacy in just two months when frontline workers need it the most and thus, helped save many lives.

Previously, Dr. Peshane worked with All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) to design equipment manual for testing paddles and pickleball as per Indian climatic conditions. He worked for 5 years with Harlequin Paints Pvt. Ltd. as Technology Consultant where he developed the entire Polyurethane product range to meet market challenges and competition. He was associated with PAINTTECH Consultants for 8 years, as senior paint technologist overseeing innovation and product customization portfolio of 20 clients.

He earned a doctoral degree Ph.D. (Chemistry) from University of Mumbai in 2014. He remained University Topper and obtained DPATech (Paint Technology) with outstanding grade in 1999. He was trained in paint manufacturing from India’s largest paint manufactures Asian Paints (I) Ltd and obtained paint applications training from India’s leading multinational engineering company Larsen and Toubro (I) Ltd as a part of in-plant trainings. He has many patents and research papers to his credit. He was conferred with IPA Award (in research category) by the Indian Paint Association in 2002, Departmental Research Fellowship in 2003-04, Badlapur Bhushan Award in 2007, and Academic Excellence Award in 2015.

Dr. Peshane obtained Project Management Professional training of Project Management Institute (PMI), USA and Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification. He has sharpened his strong managerial abilities, leadership, communication skills and enhanced them to the next level.

Dr. Peshane is a member of American Chemical Society (ACS), Society for Materials Chemistry, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), and Society for Industrial Chemistry, India.

Dr. Peshane is a curious and energetic person who loves nature, travelling, exploring places and getting along with people from diverse cultures. He is always willing to share knowledge and transfer across and utilize it to the best effect for the benefit of society.
